Zombie Parliament behind paywall

April 24, 2014

TheTimes: “Does Boris belong in the zombie parliament?” by Rafael Behr begins:

Life is draining out of the Commons.

And the article has “zombie” in the headline but that’s all I can tell you because I don’t do paywalls.

It’s an old debate about whether journalism can have traditional paid subscription model now that distribution is on the internet. The old media brands are increasingly returning to that model. Here’s the thing, if they don’t want my zombie eyes it’s ok, I’ll take them elsewhere.

The elitist filter bubbles being created by paywalls should be serious concern to anyone interested in the democratic power of parliaments. Information deserves to be free, but if they don’t want me to see it then I guess that’s their business.
