The zombie social work

March 20, 2014

Two years ago ZombieLaw reported on MSU course by Prof. Glenn Stutsky , and more recently reported that the course is back again.

Course Dates: 5/12/2015 – 6/26/2014
SW290: Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse

Here’s the new promotional trailer, yes, a promotional trailer for a college class. Expect that to get increasingly prevalent in this, the infotainment age.

Social work is a wonderful field. When the zombie apocalypse comes, we can all talk about our feelings. We can write process reports about our experience. We can form groups and plans for the future and evaluations of those plans. And then, if we survive, dealing with that…

Could we save the post office if they reframed that organization so the postal workers, who already enter the community and know so much meta-information, could work their blocks more like a community social worker. The postal system could be retooled as a bio-psycho-social infrastructure managing all sorts of lists of people who have guns, read weird magazines, are on strange meds, and those who should be shot first in case of revolution (although that list is already easily accessible at the office of attorney registration).
