Cable wins Sunday with Zombies, Jesus and Dragons

April 2, 2013

Big Cable wins again: “Cable Dramas Post Big Sunday Ratings” By Bill Carter

“Walking Dead” – 12.4 million viewers
“The Bible” – 11.7 million
“Game of Thrones” – 4.4 million

So apparently “Walking Dead” won the night but because of some devilish tricks:

The show was broadcast from 9 to 10:05 p.m. in the East, and the extra five minutes are relevant, at least to the History channel, which noted that the two-hour finale of “The Bible” managed to eke ahead of the zombies for the hour from 9 to 10, 12.33 million viewers to 12.29 for “Dead.” (Apparently the audience peaked enough in those last five minutes to lift the average for “Dead” to 12.4 million.)

Remember, the story here is not whether the Bible or the zombies won which market share when, but that we are talking about cable shows. Sunday night television belongs to Big Cable.
