US Ambassador to Iceland in zombie costume

February 7, 2013

The US Ambassador to Iceland dressed as a zombie – in Allvoices: “Zombie diplomacy: US ambassador to Iceland celebrates ‘The Walking Dead’” By Punditty:

US Ambassador to Iceland Luis E. Arreaga took part in a zombie walk through the city [of Reykjavik] in conjunction with a special screening of “The Walking Dead,” a popular US televsion series airing on AMC.

Many pictures are available from a February 1 post on the Embassy’s Facebook page: US Embassy Reykjavik Iceland

Ambassador Arreaga and other embassy staff joined a large group of zombie enthusiasts who organized a “Zombie Walk” from Hlemmur to BioParadis. At BioParadis, the ambassador presented awards to the Best Dressed, Bloodiest and Scariest zombies.

Ambassador Arreaga also reported this zombie story on his Ambassador’s blog.

Sounds fun but I wonder if this was really in such good taste given the recent events at the Embassy in Libya. That said, there surely is very little in common between our foreign policy with those two countries. For example consider that the logo for the Reykjavik Embassy is birds in love while the embassy in Libya is two talking bubbles sort of talking in opposite directions.
