Zombie Paul Krugman

April 28, 2012

ZombieLaw is excited to present the Zombie Paul Krugman. Krugman, a longtime opponent of supply-side economics, Krugman has been biten by the zombie bug. His most recent column, “Death of a Fairy Tale”, published April 26, 2012 concludes:

So we’re now living in a world of zombie economic policies — policies that should have been killed by the evidence that all of their premises are wrong, but which keep shambling along nonetheless. And it’s anyone’s guess when this reign of error will end.

The Seattle Times reran Krugman’s op-ed today with the headline “Death of the confidence fairy: living with economic zombies”

Readers of ZombieLaw should by now be familiar with zombie economic discourse and its connection to what G.H.W. Bush called the “voodoo economics” of zombietipandronnie.

Krugman’s piece is arguing particularly against government austerity plans (citing current European policies) and suggesting the “confidence fairy” should have died back with Hoover. Recall FDR fought zombies before the New Deal.

You should also recall ZombieLaw’s Zombie David Brooks – Brooks didn’t actually write the word zombie but I thought his op-ed was highly related. Now, Paul Krugman has actually used the word so, here today is Zombie Paul Krugman:
