Google’s zombie (w)hacking competition
Google held a competition to identify good hacker programmers and one of the challenges involved figuring out the best algorithm to defeat zombies. As reported in Wall Street Journal by Anjali Athavaley, “Google Lures New Talent With Zombies“:
The problem: Zombies are popping out of a graveyard. The challenge: Smash as many as possible.
It might sound like any mindless carnival game, but the stakes on Friday were high. The best zombie-smasher could be in the running to win $10,000—and perhaps a job at Google Inc.
and
Points were given for how well they solved five algorithmic problems in a four-hour span, including figuring out the most efficient way to whack zombies.
The winner was Jakub Pachocki, of Poland. He couldn’t be reached for comment.
