Zombie stories: Scorsese, Putin, Obama, Pub crawl
A bunch of zombie stories floating around the net today. Most interesting to me is a usage about public education in North Carolina that I will post in my next post. But the world seems most interested by Putin’s zombie gun and Martin Scorsese’s preference for vampires.
I already posted an earlier ZombieLaw post about “Russia developing ‘Zombie Gun’ for use on Putin protesters (or #occupy)” but now that story is reproduced much more including a skeptical reporting from MSNBC: “Reality check on Russia’s ‘zombie ray gun’ program”.
Martin Scorsese was interviewed by GQ and as reported by Dread Central:
I happen to like vampires more than zombies. Well, a vampire, quite honestly, you could have a conversation with. He has a sexuality. Zombies, what are you going to do with them? Just keep chopping them up, shooting at them, shooting at them. It’s a whole other thing that apparently means a great deal to our culture and our society.
Scorsese also gave a plug for Marc Price’s movie Colin
.
And speaking of guns and Scorsese, ABC News reports “Gun Sales Booming: Doomsday, Obama or Zombies?” conjecturing that possible 2012 apocalypse theories, Obama’s gun control policies and Zombie popularity all might be part of the growing gun sales. The article reports that some ammunition is sold in a box with a Zombie image. Maybe since Scorcese’s newest movie, Hugo, was so atypical for the director in not being about guns, the audience is seeking guns elsewhere?
This trend is not new, gun ownership, like zombie popularity, like the National debt, has been rapidly and steadily increasing even before Obama was president – the trends just keep on growing.
Finally for this post, another not-so-new trend, on Easter Day yesterday in Philadelphia there was a 7th annual Zombie Crawl 2012 - and yes there was a Zombie Jesus (see picture 56)
